Season 2, Installment 1: Pilot Post

Hey guys. This is the pilot for the very first installment of the second season of Kiss & Tell. The first season was very inconsistent and if I should add much miscalculated. Anyways, I hope you enjoy season two as we explore the relationship stories of Temisanre Williams.
Martin Luther King Junior said, “Moral principles have lost their distinctiveness. For modern man, absolute right and absolute wrong are a matter of what the majority is doing”

That is the truth. We live in a world were right and wrong is subjective. The motto now is if you cannot beat them, join them... I hope I have not joined them yet...

My name is Temisanre Williams but my friends call me Temisan. I would have gone for just Temi but I actually love to be associated with my tribe. I am itsekiri, from Delta State. I got three siblings; Roli (She is the first child and could be a major pain in the behind; then there is my younger sister Bubemi). I just graduated from the University and I just started my service year. I am supposed to be a born again Christian and trust me... I am not doing well in that department. I am 24 years old and have lived in Lasgidi (Lagos) all my life... I am born, bred and buttered. I stay with my sister Roli and her husband. One more thing, I am officially irrelevant.

What do I mean by that? I am 24... Never had a girlfriend... does not mean I am a virgin though. I want to be popular as I can sing, rap, dance, act... I am that sort of person. The problem is my best friend is a geek, obsessed with making a difference in his world. I don’t get invited to the cool parties and the closest I am to having rich sophisticated is via Facebook and Twitter. It sucks doesn’t it?

Anyways, it is a Friday night and I really want to go out. I want to go and meet people, network and probably have sex with a stranger that I have not met. I need to get loose and do all the wrong things. I have to be popular.

Did I mention to you that I hate my job? OK, I hate my JOB! It is annoying and they pay me 10,000 every month. That was my allowance when I was in school. It sucks to pay hundreds of thousands for your university education and you then end up earning peanuts. It does not make any sense. Well, I guess I do not have a choice.

Back to my job. I work in an advertising agency and trust me they are not close to being a big agency. Their biggest account is Rosebud blackcurrant drink. I had not even heard of Rosebud before I came to the agency. We shall survive.

I cleaned out my desk and headed towards the door. My office was in Yaba and instead of heading home (I stay in Surulere), I take a bike straight to the E-centre. I had to enter Koko Lounge today. A friend of mine said on Facebook that she met Banky W there. My prayer is that I meet some hotshot producer who will sign me after he listens to my demo, which is in my laptop bag by the way.

On getting to Koko Lounge, I advanced to the door, this dude comes over to me, and for a second, I was scared... OK not for a second... I was scared.

“Not today man” He says putting his hands on my chest.

“Sorry?” I had to ask. Was he trying to bounce me?

“Maybe some other time. You can’t enter here today”

“But I have an appointment”

“With?” He asks. He is looking at me through his shades. Why his he wearing shades at night?

“Don Jazzy”

He laughs and just moves away to someone else. I cannot believe I was embarrassed on my first visit to the cool spot. It really sucks. I am about to leave when this chic drags me.

“I am so sorry I am late. This is not going to happen again”

I just nod. She faces the bouncer and says, “He calls me Don Jazzy. How you doing Eze?”

They exchange pleasantries and we enter the place together. The smell that greets me as we walk towards an empty table cannot be described.

“Hi. I am Sola. You are?”

“Temisan. Thanks for helping me out there. This is my first time here”

“I totally understand. Just think of a better lie next time because I will not be there to save you. Don Jazzy. Really?”

I laughed. “I did not know what to say”

“Nobody meets Don Jazzy looking like you. (Her phone rings) Excuse me, Hello?”

Sola was a very pretty girl. She had lovely brown eyes and had an amazing figure. The only thing is she rather looked like a tomboy. I never knew a girl could wear jeans and a T-shirt to a club and will not even be stopped by the bouncers. She also had no makeup on and she wore very tiny earrings. She was fine but not my type.

Sola hung up her phone and looked at me. After 5 minutes of staring at me intensely, she burst into laughter.

“I have you all figured out, Temisan”

“You do? I don’t think so”

“Really? OK. I will take your word for it”

“So how did you manage to get me in? Do you come here regularly?” I ask her

“Yea. I guess. I am not into the whole night life but I love to get away sometimes”

“OK. So what do you do?”

“I am a photographer”

“WOW. I hope you make good money”

She just smiled and did not say anything. I told her about myself and we just kept talking into the night. Hallelujah! I guess I just made a new friend. Let us see how this goes...
